Glenfield Park

ABOUT GLENFIELD PARK

Glenfield Park has evolved over the years from a privately owned industrial site to a multi occupancy Business Centre.

The buildings originally formed part of the Philips site dating back to 1936. The Dutch owned company produced radios, light bulbs and valves. The valve being produced was known as the ‘Mullard Valve’ after the man who had been instrumental in its production. A condition of Philips producing this particular valve was that the factory had to be known as ‘Mullards’ for the duration of Mr Mullards life. Towards the end of the 1970’s the demand for the valves had diminished, subsequently the workforce was reduced and some buildings closed.

In 1986 two local business men bought four of the buildings located to the front of the site which now form Glenfield Park Business Centre.

The main building was transformed from a one storey shell into two storey light industrial/office suites, with the annexe buildings being split into separate units.

The original Philips reception building was converted into small starter offices which, at that time, were a new concept within the Blackburn area. This building is now known as Glenfield House.

The current owners procured the site in January 2005 bringing ownership of the Philips complex back under one umbrella.

Re-investment has been the prime objective over the past two years. This will be ongoing to ensure the site is well maintained and compliant to the current Health & Safety regulations.
